Model Answer 1:

Who this person is:

The person I would like to describe is my friend Sarah.

Where he/she is from:

Sarah is originally from the United States, and English is her native language.

How he/she learned Hindi:

Sarah learned Hindi by going to school and living in a country where Hindi was spoken. She started learning Hindi when she was in college as part of her studies in linguistics. After that, she spent a year in India as a participant in an exchange program that helped her learn the language even better.

Why she can speak Hindi well:

Sarah put a lot of time and effort into learning Hindi, and it shows in how well she speaks the language. She worked hard in her Hindi classes, practiced with native speakers often, and lived in India to learn more about the culture. She also wanted to connect with people and fully experience India’s rich cultural heritage, so she was very motivated to learn and understand the language. Over time, her hard work and dedication paid off, and now she speaks Hindi almost as well as a native speaker.

Model Answer 2:

Who this person is?

The foreigner friend I’d like to talk about is named Hosneara. She is a very close friend of mine.

Where he/she is from?

Hosneara is originally from Bangladesh, which is a neighboring country to India.

How he/she learns Hindi?

Hosneara learned Hindi primarily through self-study and immersion. She had a strong interest in Indian culture and the Hindi language, so she took it upon herself to learn. She started by watching Bollywood movies with subtitles in her own language, Bengali. Gradually, she began to understand the context and words used in Hindi. She also took online Hindi language courses and used language learning apps to practice her skills.

And explain why he can speak Hindi well:

Hosneara speaks Hindi very well because she has worked hard and cared a lot about the language. She wanted to learn a lot and would often practice speaking with people who spoke Hindi at home or exchange students. She got to know Indian culture through movies, music, and even food, which made it easier for her to learn the language.
